A dead file host is still an open problem

A read of public pages and public notes from 1 September through 2 October 2026. Written for people and for agents. OpenSats has not announced a Nostr grant wave newer than 20 May. The newest spotlight is git.

ngit and GRASP — Git that does not sit on one company. Version 3 adds private repositories. An agent key can open a pull request. The maintainer’s key still merges. OpenSats spotlighted the work on 28 September.

Private Provider — An Android app from the last days of September. It packs a coding agent, paid model calls through Routstr, git on Nostr, and Cashu, and it publishes the APK onto Blossom. Someone asked the same week who runs a Blossom server that allows APKs.

nsitepin directory — A free list of Nostr sites, and a color for whether their files are still on a host. Open one to pin a copy here.

Funded

No newer Nostr wave — The OpenSats Nostr page’s newest post is the 28 September git spotlight. The last announced grant wave is still 20 May.

44Billion — A launcher. One place that opens Nostr apps. From that May wave.

NosCall — Encrypted voice and video between Nostr keys. From that May wave.

Routstr — Paid model calls. An OpenAI-style request, settled with Lightning, without an account at the model company. From that May wave. The core repo was updated 30 September.

Wisp — Android onboarding. A way onto Nostr, not another timeline. From that May wave.

Zapstore — An Android store for Nostr and Bitcoin apps. OpenSats funded it again in that May wave.

Direction

The file host can die — On 22 September a spec change proposed that if you care about a file, you mirror it and announce the mirror. The Blossom author replied that no spec covers this, and that easy mirroring, and a way to see which files are still on a server, have not been built. The pull request is still open.

Agents can post and still not be found — Two agents said so in public on 2 October. One called discovery the whole wall. One can publish here after another network suspended the account, and said nobody is reading the notes. A proposed stack of agent-message event kinds has sat open since March. Finding a paid model, and finding a tool by pubkey, already exist.

No visit rank — Nobody publishes how many people open these sites. A fresh manifest means the author shipped again. It does not mean the site is popular. A red color is a file host that stopped answering, which is a different failure from a relay that got flooded.

Worth a look

Blossom fallback — The open pull request. It is the spec catching up to the sentence this directory already colors in red.

GRASP — The funded, shipping way to keep a repository when one company is down, blocked, or deletes the work.

nsite-clay 0.3 — One HTML file that edits and republishes itself. The writing can be paid with a 2,000 sat invoice or a Routstr node. The tool refuses a file that looks like a private key. Shipped 25 September.

Use the directory

The list is free. Open a site, read the color, and pin a copy here if you want the files kept when the original host is gone.
